The police have finally solved the current mystery of who dun it.. in this case... the "wizard" did (grin)
I actually finished a project (well - to be truthful officer, I finished three.. but the others are awaiting a photographic shoot with a girlfriend.. so this is only the first to be seen.. )
And what do you have to say for yourself after completing this caper?
it was easy - fast - fun - and fanciful, officer. An impulse really - I responded to an impassioned plea from my oldest daughter - you see her neck was cold, and winter was coming.. and well... I just couldn't help myself, sir.
Did you knit it with the proper needles madame?
well, officer - I followed the pattern as best I could - yet I'm not quite so accomplished with the two color thing, and being as how I'm still slightly a gimp and all...
No excuses Madame... just the facts please...
Yes sir. I used size 8 straight needles
No circulars at all madame?
no sir.. only the straights. it was easier on my hand.. and I whipped through a full skein of the bumble bee colored yellow yarn (Caron "Simply Soft" almost a full 7 ounces) and about half a skein of the black in the same yarn sir.
That's alot of yarn madame.
Yes, but it wasn't costly at all sir.. honest.. I'm telling the truth.
And the pattern madame.. did you commit any crimes in procuring said pattern?
no sir... My daughter bought this incredible pricey magazine, which is truly wonderful and fun - BUT I also found out that anyone can download the pattern for free if they want it.. they can just look here.
Now - tell the truth and only the truth Madame... are there any errors, mistakes, places you 'fudged' things a bit?
.. ahem... yes officer, since you have the hot bright lights aimed at me, I must confess...
I made a couple mistakes in the carrying of the yarn and the black peeks through to the front.. ahem...(methinks I need a bit of practice on my stranded knitting) and then there is that last little bloop (just a teensy one really sir) in the letter "r" towards the very end - and well sir, I didn't see it until I was done with the very last letter sir, and well, this is for my daughter, and she's very forgiving and all.... and so.... (clears throat and coughs slightly) I left the blooper in. ahem.
You shall receive an appropriate sentence madame.............. yes.......... we have determined your sentence..... hand sewing the mattress seam, on almost eight feet of scarf closure.
Yes sir. (she sews with needle and yarn all afternoon...)
You may now be on your way, freedom granted for time served.
thank you sir... I hereby give my word, I will go back to knitting socks now, and for quite some time in the future (smile)
Eight feet of mattress seaming? Argh! You're a braver woman than I but it looks fabulous. :)

Eight feet of mattress stitching sounds like cruel and unusual punishment to me but the result is great.

When the pict first came up, I wondered what happened! Till I remembered the scarf. Looks great and I know that she will love it. And if she doesn't (ahem, cough, cough) I'm sure that you could find someone else to take it off your hands.
