It was a fabulous day here in Olympia when Arts Walk rolled around. Moderately warm and dry (hurrah!) And the locals were out in true style. Sidewalks were decorated, and within an hour of this first photo, roads were closed off to cars, and people were everywhere!
My daughter Erin showed her watercolors again, and received great reviews. And this show, she also offered prints of her originals, and "Art Rocks".
The Art Rocks are a new idea, based upon a summer hobby that she has had since a little girl of about 5. You see, we summered, as she grew up, on a lake in Upstate NY where the lake bottom and beaches are shale. (think smooth, soft stones, perfect for painting upon). When Erin was very young, I would buy watercolor paints and we would sit on the warms stones and paint the day away.
Over the years, many of the family have collected her Art Rocks, and use them for desk art...
and this summer, as she was painting some amazing koi and a japanese wave, I suggested that she sell them. So with the help of my Dad and Mom, she and I selected about 40 stones and my Dad carefully wrapped them and mailed them to us here in Washington. (god bless the postal service flat rate boxes! hah! Can't you just imagine the Seattle postman's comment of 'what the heck, are there ROCKS in here?!' ha ha ha)
Please feel free to find Erin on Facebook now, The Art of Erin Bohlmann , and on Twitter erinanneart.
Large prints are $45, small prints $25. And she is now able to make prints of almost all her originals. The Art Rocks vary from $5.00 (for the small ones) to $20 (for the largest/most complex to paint)
Please enjoy the pictures from that night. We sure had a good time - and, as always, her two best friends came to see the show. Thank goodness for friends, eh!
And one last plug :
Erin will be exhibiting at the South Sound Community Farmland Trust's Auction/Fundraising Dinner. (Nov 6th)
She has painted a new, never been shown original for them, which will be autcioned off and the proceeds will be donated to the local efforts to save our farmlands. It is a juried, judged event, with a lovely dinner, dancing and silent auction. Please see this link for more information : Farms Forever Art Show And Dinner November 6, 2010 Olympia WA.
I hope to show a glimpse of the orignial she painted for this event soon ;-)
