And while the photo might not be the sharpest, it's enough to give you the general idea... (besides, I simply could not wait to share!). The Blanket squares are complete!
I had fun playing around this evening with the squares, sorting which goes where, and who wants to live beside whom. They finally all seem to have found their "spot". Now shall commence the knitting of the joining stips, (about 61 more by my quick count just now) and then all the small red squares will hop into place in each corner.
I have not yet decided how I will be edging the entire blanket, but I suspect it will be with a double-wide black strip.
There are quite a few colors of my dyeing/spinning that did not make it into the blanket - (mostly because I didn't have enough of each) Yet, in spite of this small set back, I was able to use what I had to create this tribute to an era of my life.
And interestingly enough, calls to mind blankets that I quilted for each of my daughters..... It was about thirteen years ago, and I was into quilting at that time. And I made scrap quilts for each daughter.
When my girls were small, I made quite a few of their dresses - and when I was pregnant, I made almost all my maternity clothes. So, for their memory quilts, I used fabric from their baby clothes and my maternity clothes (which I cut up). Sentimental. Why yes, I am. Did you not already know that?
And soon I shall have a knitted "quilt" of my own.
