I feel like a kid who's been let loose in the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory...
... like a gardener who has been given a gift of endless flowers.....
... like a.. well, .... a rock star who's just won an Emmy (okay, that one is a bit of an exaggeration....)
why?
it's been almost a year and a half since I have been able to spin, and last night I decided that it was time.
I popped my favorite chick flick into my computer, fired up my Windows Media Player, and sat down at my trusty old Schacht...
... and I spun.
Joy.
I tell you, absolute joy.
There was more than a brief moment of dancing about the house, pretending I was Gene Kelly doing his famous "Singing in the Rain" dance... there was toasting the sky with a glass of deep red Cabernet.. and then I settled back in and spun some more.
Yes, my hand is still sore, but the fingers remember what to do. And that was my biggest concern.
I began with a bit of a warm up on some nameless lamb's wool that I had on my wheel from a year ago, and then plunged right back into some colonial Superwash (its the same fiber I used to dye for my Sock Hop superwash....)
and I am now sporting a grin from ear to ear.
Here's a photo of what I spun from the superwash, hand dyed by a pal of mine, Sarah, who owns 'Great Balls of Fiber".The colorway is called Purple People Eater.
My hand is a bit sore and achy this morning, but nothing that I can't live with. (fine motor movements like writing or spinning still hurts) yet I can do it!!
Woo hoo... it's about as wonderful as going to Carnegie Hall !!
I'm a happy little spinner.
It's time to bask in the sunshine, of a hobby that I can play with once again - and my Emily agrees

Fabulous news, Teyani! May your hand continue to strengthen as you continue to use it. Your spinning is beautiful after taking a year+ off!

I'm so happy for you--that must have felt so, so good!
(And, I totally agree about Kate & Leopold. Hugh Jackman as a 19th century gentleman? So, so charming--and I love his interactions with Kate's brother, too. I'd eat his creamy butter any day...

That's wonderful! I am so glad it went well for you. That was a long time to go without spinning. I can't imagine! 2 months feels like forever for me. Have fun!

Your spinning looks like no pause at all. Is sore and achy related to tendons/ligaments, or disuse burn in the muscles? The latter would be easy to work on....
