A brief rain shower yesterday afternoon brought on the first Scrabble match or two, and with it a very delighted "Nerd" (giggles)
Kate scored 176 points with one word (ahem.. yeah, did I mention maybe a time or three how very clever she is? - (more grins))
See that word down in the left corner of the photo? "Quantity" was the winning word of the game.... all 7 letters, two triple word scores plus a bonus of 50 points for using all her letters.... Smart kid :-) Needless-to-say, we won't mention that my entire score for the game was about half of hers.... hee hee...
We finished the game using all the letters, patted ourselves on the back, and had a marvelous dinner to celebrate.
Rematch in a couple of days I think.
Kate just got home a week ago from Governor's Honors Program in Valdosta, Georgia. It's a six week program for the creme de la creme of the smart kids in Georgia. She had a fabulous time, and brought hundreds of wonderful photos to share. My little blondie was a Spanish Major there, with a voice minor. It's delightful to hear her rattle off her Spanish in a completely fluent style. As she contemplates colleges for a year from now, I can only think how very fortunate any of them will be to have her. (could be I'm a tad biased, yet it's still true)
And there was a bit of knitting over the past couple of days - viola.. a finished "Shedir"
(details on yarn and stuff a couple of posts back). I love how it turned out. And I'm now beginning a coordinating cowl.
Fingers crossed that it fits the recipient.
Power to the "Nerds"
